Company History

1951 The late Yoshimitsu Nakashima started selling agricultural fertilizers for producers.
1965 Established NAKASHIMA TRADING CO., LTD. with 5 million yen in capital.
Changed the organization from a retailer to a wholesaler, and delivered products to DIY stores, nurseries, seed and seedling stores, agricultural cooperatives, etc.
1973 Built a fertilizer plant (Suzunari Plant) and warehouse in Misaki-cho, Toyoake City.
1976 Completed a new company building and increased capital to 10 million yen.
1977 Built a potting compost plant in Nishikawa-cho, Toyoake City.
1978 Established TOYOCHU Corporation.
1979 Increased capital to 20 million yen.
1981 Introduced computers to start a distribution system.
1982 Built the First Distribution Center (current warehouse for Suzunari Plant).
1983 Built the Second Distribution Center.
1983 Established the Hamamatsu Business Office.
1985 Built the Second Distribution Center (current warehouse for the potting compost plant).
1988 Established the Shizuoka Business Office in Fukuroi-shi, Shizuoka.
1989 Opened Greenland LAP (current LAP Garden).
1993 Started operation of the Comprehensive Distribution Center with an area of 1,000 tsubo (floor area of approx. 3,300 m2).
1998 Opened LAP Garden Tokyo Flower Bed in Hinodemachi, Nishitama-gun, Tokyo (current Akiruno City).
1998 Established the Kansai Business Office in Kyoto.
2004 Opened Green Garden in Handa City, Aichi (renamed the Lap Garden Handa Store in the following fiscal year).
2004 Integrated headquarters functions into the Comprehensive Distribution Center in Kutsukake-cho.
2004 Integrated the distribution function of Kansai Business Office into Headquarters' Comprehensive Distribution Center.
2005 Closed Green Garden in Handa City, Aichi.
2005 Converted the Headquarters' First Distribution Center into a Filling Plant for TOYOCHU products.
2006 Reconstructed the Shizuoka Business Office and started it as the TOYOCHU Shizuoka Plant.
2006 Integrated the distribution functions of the Shizuoka Business Office into the Headquarters' Comprehensive Distribution Center, after starting up the Shizuoka Plant.
2008 Introduced high-speed filling equipment for liquid products to the Shizuoka Plant.
2008 Introduced agrichemical inspection equipment (for component inspection) to the Shizuoka Plant.
2009 Introduced a new model of equipment to the Headquarters' Suzunari Plant due to deterioration in the filling equipment for fertilizers.
2009 Converted the production line at the Headquarters' Potting Compost Plant into a fertilizer production line.
2010 Introduced a second high-speed filling equipment for liquid products to the Shizuoka Plant.
2011 Established the TOYOCHU Hiroshima Plant in Mihara City, Hiroshima.
2016 Established the TOYOCHU Ibaraki Plant in Joso City, Ibaraki.
2020 Established the TOYOCHU Kutsukake Plant in Toyoake City, Aichi.
